9:45 AM American Royal: Parade

Sep 28, 2013 9:45 AM
Bring your friends, family and neighbors as we grow our tradition of paying tribute to America’s Military at the American Royal’s 88th Annual Parade on Saturday, September 28. Beginning at 9:45 a.m., the Parade will again travel north up Grand Boulevard from Pershing to Truman Road.

Last year’s Parade was one of the largest in recent memory and certainly the largest in the Midwest region honoring our military veterans. Building on this momentum, plans for the 2013 parade are even bigger and more exciting.

There will be close to 4,000 people marching in the parade including active duty military, veterans from every conflict, 2,000 Boy Scouts, Combines and tractors, 4H and FFA youngsters, some of Kansas City’s best marching bands and drill teams, saddle clubs, vintage cars, civic groups and decked-out parade floats. Many of the floats celebrate the parade’s agriculture theme, honoring The American Royal’s commitment to fostering the development of young Americans in a wide variety of agricultural fields.

Tens of thousands of Kansas Citians lined Grand Boulevard last year and the collective “Thank You” could be heard for miles around!

Spend Saturday morning September 28th with the men, women and families who keep America free as Kansas City’s largest Parade in their honor marches by. This is a unique event not to be missed.

Liberty Fall Festival

Sep 27, 2013 – Sep 29, 2013

Crisp autumn breezes, virtual oceans of glowing pumpkins interspersed with lushly blooming mums in all the glorious colors of fall, handcrafted gifts & unique items available nowhere else.

Entertainment, parade, carnival, music, dancing and boundless fun- all this and more make up the annual Liberty Fall Festival. Hosted mainly on the Liberty Square amidst historical buildings dating to the 1800’s, the Fall Festival is unique in all the Kansas City area.

There is so much entertainment you’ll be hard pressed to catch it all. As the kids whirl about on the rides to flashing lights and lively music, the parents can sample light-as-air cotton candy or cooling snow cones.

The festival proves to be a shopper’s delight with everything from handmade crafts to home grown fruits & vegetables.

The event can be traced back to 1934 and has been set up in area shopping centers. It has ties to the Clay County 4-H and William Jewell Colleges’ Homecoming. Many class reunions and get-togethers are centered around the festival which is held on the fourth full weekend of September each year.
