Shawnee Indian Mission Fiber Festival

Join us as we celebrate the fiber arts at the mission. Fiber artists and area fiber guild members will demonstrate their crafts and handmade items will be available for purchase. A “Make and Take” workshop will be offered for an additional fee.

The play “Citizens of Our Cemetery” will be presented at 1 and 3 p.m. at the mission. This original play by Don Carlton tells the story of the mission and those who lived there. Tour the cemetery on Shawnee Mission Parkway at 2 p.m.

KC Northern Railroad

KC Northern Railroad

The 16-gauge railroad on the north section of the community center grounds is open from the first weekend in May until the last weekend in September.  The train will not operate in inclement weather.

Hours: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday and holidays, noon to 6 p.m.

 

Cost 50 cents for a single trip ticket; 10-trip tickets are $4.50; and 20-trip ticket
