Christmas Season has almost officially arrived.  For me, the Christmas Devotional broadcast from the  leaders of the church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints kicks off the season.  I love this devotional.  The church leaders always share a beautiful message reminding me of the REASON of the SEASON and to me-there aren’t many more things that scream Christmas than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir!  Amazing!  This will take place on Sunday, December 4 @ 6 pm Mountain Standard time.  Anyone around the world can watch it on the internet (isn’t that fantastic?).  Click here for more info.  No matter where you are in the world, have a little piece of Christmas on Sunday!

After that devotional, I love to relish in all of the local Christmas.  Kansas City seems to really DECK THE HALLS when it comes to Christmas.  Here are my favorite venues around the city to help you get in the Christmas mood or get a picture of your little one with Santa.

If there are other Christmasy events happening either nationwide or locally that you love, please share details in a comment!

Crown Center-Crayolaland and the gingerbread village grace the halls and exhibit area @ crown center.  Outside you can see the mayor’s Christmastree and usually there is a fun play area complete with a train and barbie car and a rocket for the kids to play on.

Connected to Crown center is Union Station-I love the model trains decked out for Christmas.  It’s really fun to see the miniature cars in the village parked at the drive in theater watching polar express.  This is definitely a winning ticket.  Also @ Union Station is the holiday Express Santa ride.

Holiday Model Railroad Experience

Now Open!
One of Kansas City’s favorite holiday outings, Union Station’s 8,000 square foot Holiday Model Railroad Experience is now open for the 2011 season! Enjoy the Kansas City’s Holiday Memories display and the always fun and fascinating Holiday Model Railroad Experience!  We haven’t gone yet this year but I’ve heard rumors that this is AMAZING!

Metro North Train – free mini train ride for kids under 12 and visit with Santa.  Click on the link for schedule.  Pictures with Santa come with a sitting fee.

Zona Rosa-fairy princess will be visiting until Dec 2.  You can get pics with Santa-the pictures come with a fee.  The lights are phenomenal!

Bass Pro Shop-Winterwonderland and FREE pics with Santa.  Our 14 mos LOVED it!  🙂  (didn’t love Santa necessarily but loved the decor–there is also a craft for the other kids).  Click here for details.  Well worth the 30 minutes it took to get here.
